Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in our family of “1000 Words” language-learning apps (including Thai, Chinese, Cantonese, Burmese, Vietnamese and other language editions). It applies to all of these apps on the App Store and Google Play. By using an app, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Learning data

Your study progress, quiz history, statistics and settings are stored locally on your device. If cloud backup/sync is active, this data is also stored on our server so you can restore it or use it across devices.

Anonymous device identifier

To back up and sync your progress without requiring an account, the app uses a randomly generated anonymous device identifier (UUID). It is not linked to your real-world identity.

Account information (optional)

Signing in is optional. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address solely to create your account and sync your learning data across devices. We do not use it for marketing.

Advertising

Some apps show ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID / IDFA) and limited usage data. On iOS, personalized-ads tracking happens only if you grant permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt; if you decline, ads are non-personalized. Google’s handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy & Terms.

Microphone (pronunciation practice)

Pronunciation practice uses your device’s built-in speech recognizer to score how you say a word. Audio is processed on-device/by the system recognizer and is not stored or transmitted to our servers.

Language Exchange (only if offered and you opt in)

If an app offers a Language Exchange feature and you create a profile, we store the profile you provide (nickname, languages, short bio) and the messages, images or voice notes you send, in order to deliver the chat. You can delete your profile and this content in-app at any time.

2. How we use information

• To provide core learning features and save your progress.
• To back up and synchronize your data across your devices.
• To display and measure advertising (in apps that show ads).
• To generate spoken audio and translations for vocabulary.
• To respond to your support requests.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third-party services

• Google AdMob — advertising (apps with ads).
• Apple Sign In / Google Sign-In — optional authentication.
• Google Cloud Text-to-Speech & Translation — to generate pronunciation audio and translations (these process text, not your identity).

These providers process data under their own privacy policies.

4. Data retention & your choices

You can request deletion of your account and any synced/backed-up data at any time:

• In the app, via Settings → delete account (when signed in), or
• By submitting a request through our contact form.

Uninstalling an app removes all data stored locally on that device. Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA); contact us to exercise them.

5. Children

Our apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

6. Security & changes

We use reasonable measures to protect your information. We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.

本政策适用于我们旗下全部「1000 Words」语言学习系列 App（泰语、中文、粤语、缅甸语、 越南语等）。要点：

• 学习数据（进度、测验记录、统计、设置）保存在本机；开启云同步后也会备份到我们的服务器。
• 未登录时使用匿名设备标识(UUID)来备份/同步,不关联真实身份。
• 登录为可选;若用 Apple/Google 登录,仅获取你的姓名与邮箱用于建号与跨设备同步,不用于营销。
• 部分 App 通过 Google AdMob 展示广告,可能收集广告标识符等用于投放与统计;iOS 上仅在你同意「App 跟踪透明度」弹窗后才进行个性化跟踪。
• 发音练习的录音由设备语音识别即时处理,不存储、不上传到我们的服务器。
• 你可随时在 App 内「删除账号」或通过联系表单申请删除数据。
• 本系列不面向 13 周岁以下儿童。
